Plant, Microbial & Environmental Biotechnology for a Sustainable Future

The Laboratory of Plant and Environmental Biotechnology, part of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the  University of Thessaly, conducts interdisciplinary research at the interface of plant biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, microbiology, microbial ecology, synthetic biology and systems biology, and One Health.

Established as a research group in 2007 and officially founded as a Laboratory in 2015, it investigates the complex interactions among plants, microorganisms and their environments, aiming to generate knowledge and develop biotechnological solutions that support sustainable, agriculture, ecosystem, resilience, environmental protection and public health.
